Sicily is a land full of nature but it can count on a number of big and ancient cities, among the most important towns in Italy. Choosing one of our villas near Sicily’s main cities you can combine the privacy and quiet of a private villa with the comfort of staying near the city centre.
Palermo is the capital and one of the oldest cities on the island: it was founded by the Phoenicians and over the centuries it became the main centre of Sicily’s culture and trade. The second biggest city of the island is Catania, the famous town on the slopes of Mount Etna, the tallest active volcano in Europe: its old town is a Baroque masterpiece but the city is lively and modern.
In the eastern region you will also find Syracuse, once the beating heart of the Magna Graecia and today one of the most interesting tourist destinations on the island mostly thanks to the beauty of its old centre on the isle of Ortigia. In the west you will find Trapani and Marsala, two more coastal towns famous for their food and wine as well as for the beauty of their surroundings.
