Next week is a special time for Palermo. In the night between July 14 and 15 the city celebrates for the 393rd time its patron Saint Rosalia. The feast (that around here is known as “U Festinu”) will start at the cathedral church, where the whole town will gather to follow the statue of Rosalia in its parade along the old “Cassaro”, the street that from the cathedral goes down to the seaside.

Saint Rosalia feast is a lot more than a religious celebration, is a unique event that involves everyone: Palermo stops for one night, it’s something you don’t want to miss if you are in Sicily in the next few days. During the whole week a lot of side events will take place around the city: the program is available, only in Italian unfortunately, on the official website.
