Aeolian islands, Vulcano

As you know, Sicily is a land rich of natural beauties, full of enchanting beaches: from North to South, from East to West, there are a lot of amazing sandy and rocky shores, not to mention its big and small islands,  surely worth a visit. In 2017 eight of Sicily’s best beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)  certifying the high quality of their maritime environment.

To get a Blue Flag, a beach should feature oustanding quality for water purification, waste management, cycling paths, green spaces and facilities.

Menfi: Lido Fiori Bertolino and Porto Palo Cipollazzo

Menfi, a small town near Agrigento, is called the “City of the Clean Sea”. The coast offers a golden sandy beach and crystal clear water. Beside these two beaches in Porto Palo di Menfi, you can also pay a visit to the beautiful nature reserve of the Belice river.

Aeolian Islands: Gelso, Ficogrande, Acquacalda, Canneto and Acque Termali 

Thanks to the excellent quality of their waters, five of the Aeolian Islands’ beaches have been included within the Blue Flag Program. The thermal waters of  Vulcano island and the wonderful beaches of sand and volcanic rock  scattered all over the islands create a breathtaking environment.

Tusa:  Lampare e Marina beach

The coast of Tusa, a pretty seaside village in the province of Messina, has been elected the New Tyrrhenian pearl of Sicily also by Legambiente, and for the third consecutive year gets the prestigious recognition by the NGO FEE.  

Seafront of Santa Teresa di Riva

Also located in the province of Messina, the seafront of Santa Teresa di Riva stretches for over three kilometers between the rivers Savoca and Agrò and is characterized by a sandy beach mixed with dark gravel, which contrasts the deep blue of the sea.

Pozzallo: Pietre Nere and Raganzino 

These two golden sandy shores, located in the town of Pozzallo, has also been awarded with the Green Flag, a prestigious recognition assigned to child-friendly beaches.

Ispica: Cirica and Santa Maria del Focallo

 

Ispica is an enchanting little town in the Ragusa’s territory. Thanks to the beauty of both free and equipped sandy beaches, it’s the perfect uncontaminated seaside resort to spend a pleasant day of relax.

Ragusa: Marina di Ragusa

This beautiful long beach of golden sand offers a large variety of services to its tourists:  from seaside restaurants to lounge bars, from fully equipped bathing establishments to nautical centers where you can practice sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
